May 18th, 2017 WNBA Tips

Today we’ve got the Minnesota Lynx vs the New York Liberty and I’ve got one betting tip for that game.

My computerized betting system has no tips yet as mentioned – however I have a personal tip for this game.

It’s an interesting one because initially I was going to skip today. However the more I looked at it I decided I liked the New York Liberty +4 – line available at Bovada.

A lot of my reasoning for this one is because of the reaction from the Liberty camp following the first game.

Both teams won their first games. The New York Liberty got a 73-64 win over the San Antonio Stars. However the Stars were short-handed for that one so that helped for sure as they were missing a couple of key players.

It really was an unimpressive game for the Liberty despite the win. And they know it.

Bill Laimbeer, the coach of the New York Liberty, read the team the riot act after their win – which is great. It’s very nice to hear that because really they didn’t look good at all out there.

The players all seem in agreement. Laimbeer wants them to be a contender for the WNBA Championship. He’s read them the riot act and now they have something to prove. And what perfect time for them to do that than against the 2nd favourites to win the WNBA Championship, the Minnesota Lynx.

This is a massive game for them and I’m basing my bet purely on the focus the Liberty have going into this game. I’ve seen this sort of thing before in sports. Sometimes it backfires but sometimes a team is given that self-belief and that criticism and it works wonders.

I’m hoping in this case it’s the latter.

What about the Minnesota Lynx? Well they had a solid performance over the Chicago Sky. They took their foot off the gas in the second half but they had did just enough in the first half to make sure they were never in trouble.

However they were also going against a short handed team in the Sky. Chicago were missing Quigley and Vandersloot which are both big losses for them.

That second half performance was what interested me – they looked tired. That’s where I hope Laimbeer can push the Liberty – it’ll take a few games for them to get their conditioning up to par so push, push, push. This would be a big win early in the season for them.

So I’m on Liberty +4 tonight.

You can bet that at Bovada.
