Phoenix Mercury announced their new head coach, Corey Gaines. Gaines has been the assistant coach at Mercury for the past two years, and will replace Paul Westhead. Gaines played in college at Loyola Marymount, and moved onto the NBA, starting with the Seattle Supersonics, and also playing for the New Jersey Nets, Philadelphia 76ers, Denver Nuggets and New York Knicks.

Jamie Carey, silver medalist in the 2003 USA Basketball Team, and a former point guard at the University of Texas, has joined the USA Basketball Womens National Team College Tour.
