WNBA News for March 21, 2008

Bo Overton, coach of the Chicago Sky, dramatically resigned this week.  Rumours on the Sky Talk official message board are that Overton sexually harassed at least one player.  Steve Key, the assistant coach has now been named the new general manager and head coach.

Loree Moore, the New York Liberty guard who scored a career-best 9.6 per games last season, has signed a 3 year contract extension to the team.

WNBA News for March 3, 2008

With the new WNBA season upcoming, the WNBA teams are in re-signing mode.  The Washington Mystics signed all-star guard Alana Beard to a new four year contract.  Beard has been a huge impact on the Mystics since her rookie season, where she led the team to the playoffs, and re-signing to a long term contract is a big boost.

The Detroit Shock also re-signed Pienette Pierson, the teams second leading scorer last season, and the 2007 WNBA 6th Women of the Year, to a new contract.

The WNBA draft will be held the day after the NCAA Women’s Basketball Championships, on April 9th.  It will be in Palm Harbor, Florida.
